It was a trip across the border to Llanrumney near Cardiff in Wales for today's show: South Wales Boxer Club CH show.  The judge was breed specialist Jenny Whittaker (Bucksteps).  For a change I was entered in Novice Bitch today and was thrilled to take a fantastic 2nd place.  Many thanks to the judge for a great result.

A trip down south today where I was entered at the London & Home Counties Boxer Club CH Show under Liz Cartledge. Entered in a numerically strong Junior class of 13, I was thrilled to take a fantastic 2nd place (another Crufts qualifier!!).  Many thanks to the judge for a great result.

Horsham DCS Open Show

4 hours today, battling the M1 and M25 to reach the destination of my first Open Show Judging appointment, which was Horsham DCS Open Show at Ardingly.  After a warm welcome from the committee and a coffee to get warmed up I settled down to the task in hand.  I had  lovely puppy class of 6 puppies, 1 junior, 1 post-graduate and 3 in open.  I had some lovely, quality exhibits, which made the task harder than I had anticipated.  However, decisions had to be made and I was pleased with my BP and BOB.  After a fantastic homemade lunch, I wanted to support my breed winners and so stayed to watch them in the group.  To end a thoroughly enjoyable day, I was delighted when my BOB went Working Group 2 and then my puppy went Working Puppy Group 2!!  Well done to both.

My BOB winner Kershaw's Dasasary Read En N Weep and BP Lane's Glenauld Glamourama - Both Working Group 2!!

Glorious sunshine greeted us at Cottesmore for the Anglian Boxer Clubs Open Show.  The judge was Desnie Pye (Burnden).  I was in first in my Junior Bitch class, and was delighted to win 2nd place.  Betsy was entered in Open Bitch which she WON.  We had a lovely relaxed day, many thanks to the judge for a lovely afternoon.

Darlington CH Show

Today 'Team Paxis' (that's both Bridie and me) travelled up to Newby Hall for Darlington CH show.  We had a full day of showing with us both entered in Breed Classes and Stakes Classes.  First things first it was into the Breed ring where our Judge was Maria Harding (Pringham).  Bridie was entered in Junior Bitch where she absolutely delighted us with a 2nd place.  Next it was my turn entered in Limit Bitch and I didn't disappoint with a 4th place (Reserve).  We then had time for a rest and some food whilst waiting for the stakes classes.

In the stakes Bridie was entered under Mr Bob Gregory in the Pet Plan Junior Stakes which had a strong entry of 25.  I looked on from the ringside and was thrilled to see her get shortlisted and then awarded 5th place (VHC).  Next though it was my turn in the Special Beginners Bitch Stakes under Mrs Sheila Jakeman.  I had a lot to live up to after Bridies placing in the Junior stakes!  So I put on my best showing performance, I stood well and moved like a dream - I must have impressed the judge as she awarded me 1st place!!!   A great end to the day.  Overall Paxis had a super show, many thanks to all judges for their awards.

British Boxer Working Day

I was thrilled to be asked by the British Boxer Club if I would judge their Working Day Companion Show.  Literally 5 minutes up the road - Shardlow was the venue for this fantastic afternoon of all things 'Boxer' which included racing, obedience and agility.  The companion show was open to all breeds (not just Boxers!!) and I had a great turnout with all groups represented in their respective classes.  My biggest class of the day, was of course the working/pastoral class which had an entry of 18 boxers!!!  I chose my BIS and RBIS and BPIS which are pictured below.  Then it was time for a bit of fun as classes such as 'Prettiest Bitch', 'Most Handsome Dog', 'Waggiest Tail' and 'Best Tit-bit Catcher' were judged.  Overall the afternoon was most enjoyable and I highly recommend more boxer folk to attend and join in for themselves - I certainly will be next year!  I would like to thank the British Boxer Club for their hospitality, and a fantastic judging experience, also the exhibitors for their entry and letting me judge their dogs.

Ashbourne Open Show

Today was a fairly local show for us at Ashbourne in Derby for the Shire Horse Show!!  We had both girls entered in their respective breed classes under breed specialist Jo Cairns (Galicar).  First in the ring was Bridie in Junior.  We were absolutely delighted when she was awarded 1st place.  Next in was Betsy entered in Open.  Betsy performed well (she always reliable) and she too was awarded 1st place.  This was a fantastic achievement, but meant we had both girls in the Challenge for BOB!!  We needed another handler - so in stepped DAD!!  He decided Betsy was the easier to handle, so I took charge of Bridie.  After further consideration we were thrilled when Bridie was awarded Best Of Breed (she's just 14 months!), and even more so when we did 'the double' and Betsy took the Reserve Best Of Breed (much to Dads astonishment as he was handling!).  In the afternoon, after rain, wind and finally glorious sunshine, Bridie represented the breed in the Working Group under Group Judge Mark Boswell.  She showed her socks off and she was reward with Working Group 3.  This result just topped off a fantastic day for us.  Many thanks to both Judges for a memorable day!.

Below is a picture of Bridie in the Working Group and also of Dad the proud 'Dogfather' with both the girls and their rosettes!!

Working & Pastoral Breeds CH Show

Today myself and Bridie had a trip up to Malvern where we were entered at the WPB CH Show. Our judge was Mr K Johansson from Sweden. It was a lovely sunny day and as always a picturesque setting. Bridie was first in the ring entered in Junior Bitch. She did a fantastic job and I was thrilled to see Bridie return to the bench after WINNING the class! It was my turn next, entered in Limit Bitch class. It was a big class of 22 entries. I showed my socks off and was over the moon to take 3rd place in such a strong class. Vicky and Dad were even more delighted as this meant I attained my Stud Book Number, which as well as qualifying me for Crufts 2010, means I am now Crufts qualified for Life!!!   Woohoo!  We would like to thank the Judge for such a fantastic day!

Also at the show our friends at Newlaithe had a great day - Faerdorn Stolen Melody was placed 3rd in Puppy Bitch - qualifying her for Crufts, the boys - Newlaithe on Target and Magical Trick from Newlaithe both placed in their classes and Star for the Day CH Newlaithe Just Stunning took the Bitch CC ad RBOB!!!  Many Congratulations to Newlaithe. Well done Christine and Vikki!!

East of England CH Show

Off to Peterborough today, where we had glorious sunshine!!  Both girls were entered so it was a rare 'full team' outing.  In the breed ring Bridie was entered under all-rounder Mr Peter Bailey in her first Junior Bitch class.  She was a little un-attentive so we were thrilled when she took 3rd place - this result makes her multiple Crufts qualified.  Betsy as usual showed her socks off but in a strong Limit class, sadly was unplaced today.  After lunch Bridie was to represent the Boxers in the Pet Plan Junior Bitch Stakes under renowned all-rounder Mr Frank Kane.  Numerically strong (36), as all JS classes are, we assembled in big outside ring and awaited our turn.  Bridie was in a much happier mood it seemed and was incredibly keen (all of a sudden) on the bait.  She performed well, standing still for the Judge and keeping calm on the move!.  We were chuffed when we made the first cut (12), the judge moved us again, stood us again, and we made the cut for a second time - we were in the last 5, along with a second Boxer, Winuwuk All About Eve, handled by Julie.  This in itself was a fantastic achievement. Again we were moved, took our positions up for the final line-up.  The St Bernard was first, BUT we couldn't believe it when Frank Kane pointed to Bridie and myself for 2nd place!!  WE WERE DELIGHTED - Many Thanks to Frank Kane for a thrilling conclusion to the day and also for his lovely comments.
