The Paxis team consists of myself - Vicky (the handler) and My Dad - John (the dog walker and team chauffer!!!). We are based in Derby in the East Midlands. We have owned the Paxis affix since 1992 when we bred our first Boxer litter. We are members of the Northern Boxer Club, Trent Boxer Club and Loughborough and District Canine Society.

Ok so we aren't the biggest kennel!! But one thing's for sure we have lots of enthusiasm and a great deal of love and affection for all the dogs we've had in our past and more so for the ones we have at present.

We have owned boxers since we purchased our first from the Snarestone Kennel in 1980. Snarestone Grandpa Dickson or 'Harry' to us! Harry lived a happy 9 years before sadly dying from 'old age' in 1989. Harry

Our next boxer was Melover Fair Phoebe from the Melover Kennel in Stafford in 1989. She was out of a Snarestone bitch - Snarestone Fairlight to Willrait Whisky Ginger. We didn't purchase 'Phoebe' with the intention of showing her, we got her simply because we'd lost Harry and couldn't be without a Boxer!

At the end of 1990 Leicester Championship Show was held at Donington Park. We were invited by Melover to go and see Phoebes Litter sister who was entered. We went along and had a thoroughly enjoyable day and so the showing bug bit!

With a lot of encouragement from the Melover kennel, Vicky (aged 15) and Phoebe set about practising and training for their first Open show which was to be Trent Boxer Open Show held in January 1991.

PhoebeThe Judge at the Trent show was Rita Tucker and she awarded Phoebe a 1st in Beginners and 3rd in Novice.  An encouraging start for Vicky and Phoebe.  Phoebe continued to be shown successfully at Open show level and Vicky won a few Handling classes too!

Phoebe was mated to CH. Fletcher at Sunhawk Norwatch in November of 1991 producing a litter in January of 1992.  In the litter was lovely flashy Dog who we decided to run on - Paxis Knocked out Loaded fondly known as Zimmy.

ZimmyAs a Puppy Zimmy showed early promise, but sadly he wasn't a natural showman and never really took to showing.  Vicky was now 17 and her interest in showing also started to wain - Boys and college were on her mind, the 'Docking debate' was at the forefront of the Canine world and this was enough to put Paxis out of the show ring for the next 7 years!!!

At the beginning of 1999 Vicky, now with her own home decided she'd really like to take up showing again.  This time she decided on a change of direction into a new breed - Golden Retrievers.  In August 1999 she was fortunate to meet Maria Chalk of the Chalksville Kennel who had a litter of Goldens - Chalksville Dez Ja Vous was chosen, Mabel was to start the Paxis kennel off at showing yet again!

Maria and her family were extremely welcoming and very encouraging towards Vicky and Mabel and so a lasting friendship was formed.

Mabel Mabel did some good winning as a Puppy her most memorable - Winning the Puppy Class at Birmingham CH show under Mr A Fall from a strong class of 25!  She has been consistently placed at Open shows attaining 10 Firsts, Reserve Best of Breed at United Retriever Club (Mrs J Sparrow) and Reserve Best in Show along with other numerous placings and has notched up several CH show placings ranging from First through to VHC.  Not bad for our first and only show Golden!

Mabel was mated to Putjade Prince of Thieves at Kennelridge in May of 2002 producing a litter of 9 (6 bitches and 3 dogs).  Mabels daughter Paxis Pandemonium resides at the Chalksville kennel and is shown by Maria, she has also proved to be a useful brood bitch.  Paxis Misbehavin another daughter also went to a show home and Paxis Trouble N' Strife, Mabels son did some showing before being retired to a pet home.  Trouble N' Strife lives on at Chalksville in his daughter Chalksville Be-bop-a-Lula.

Mabel now aged 7 has practically retired although we're planning on bringing her out for some Veteran classes at CH shows soon.

BetsyAnd so we come to Newlaithe Lilibet our latest hopeful for the Paxis kennel.

After losing Phoebe in 2003 at the age of 14, followed by Zimmy in 2005 at the age of 12 we thought once again we didn't need a Boxer in our lives BUT after a year of not having any around the house, we soon realised how much we missed everything Boxer!  And so we set about looking for our next Boxer companion.

We were fortunate to come across the Newlaithe Website on the internet and rang Christine Beardsell.  To our delight she had a promising Young Red Bitch available.  We couldn't get up there to meet her quick enough!  When we saw Betsy it was Love at first sight, she was stunning and had that super, friendly, outgoing temperament we had always craved.  (Our past brindles had always been hard work!!!).  And so with a lot of convincing and a final twist of both Christine and Vikki's arms we brought our new show companion 'Betsy' home.

2006 - A new era, it's only the beginning!!
